Prezi: Create modern-style presentations

Prezi is a Flash-based online presentation authoring software. In each presentation, you have one big workspace to place text and other objects on. As you go through the presentation, it pans, zooms, and rotates to your set frames. It is somewhat similar to certain TV commercials in the way that it rotates and pans.

HyperDock: Add Window Previews

One of the features from Windows that I miss most is that Alt-tab switches between apps, not windows. HyperDock attempts to fix that, among many other things. When you mouse over an app’s icon in the dock, it shows all of the open windows.

Tab Mix Plus: Multi-row tabs and more for Firefox

If you do a lot of research or otherwise “web-intensive” work, you probably know all-too-well how hard it is to manage many tabs at once. Tab Mix Plus for Firefox solves this issue, and gives you many other features too. However, it activates many of its features automatically, so if you only want one of them, you have to go and change every other setting off. View PDFs in Mac Firefox

Perhaps one of the most problematic things about Mac Firefox is that it requires downloading PDF files to view them, whereas some other browsers do not. Install the PDF plugin for Mac Firefox, and it will save you a huge chunk of time. (For PowerPC, use this link.)

BugMeNot: addon and website

Have you ever been annoyed that you have to sign up for every website you visit? Here’s a solution: BugMeNot. It has a large database of public usernames and passwords for popular websites that you can log in with. There is a Firefox addon, a Chrome plugin, and a website with an index of the passwords.

Note: It violates the TOS to use it on paid websites and similar.

Aviary: Edit images, screenshots, and audio online

Remove viruses from unbootable computer

Has your computer fallen victim to a virus and not been able to boot? In some cases, you can fix this yourself. There are many options when it comes to bootable rescue CDs, but one that seems fairly straightforward is the AVG Rescue CD. It comes with anitvirus and troubleshooting software, as well as a file manager, registry editor and more.

Get a longer iPhone cord

Have you ever been upset about how short the iPhone dock/charge cord is? Did you want a stylish way to make it longer? First of all, it only works if you have this adapter:

1. Order a Macbook cord extension. Check for a cheaper one- somewhere on the page it says new from $3.90.

2. Pop the “duck head” (little thingy with the flipping prongs) off the charger block. Just grasp the charger and pull straight up on the duck head. It might pull off a little hard; just pull firmly.

3. Take the Macbook cord extension, and find the end that resembles the duck head. Line it up and push it straight down firmly into the slot. That’s it!

Or, if you have a Macbook that you don’t need a long cord on, you can just pull the cord extension thing out of it and put the duck head in its place.

How to find the Mac IPSW for jailbreaking

Have you ever tried to jailbreak your iPhone? You need to have the IPSW to do this. When you “download-only” an iPhone update, the file is hidden. To find it, use Go>Go to folder in Finder.

Change “macbook” to your hard drive name and “apple” to your home folder name.

Once you get to the iTunes folder, find “iPhone software updates” (or “iPod”). Your newly downloaded IPSW should be there.
